2015 Recipient — Melanie Applegate, Doctor of Nursing Practice, New York University

The Meland Foundation grants funding for scholarships to nurses in the NJ-NY-CT-PA area with BSN degrees wishing to pursue Nurse Practitioner degrees with a pediatric specialty and who share the vision of the Foundation.

The Meland Foundation — founded by a beloved pediatrician who built a successful family medical practice in Northern New Jersey — provides and supports inspirational and informational programs to enhance the ability of families to care for loved ones and to provide hope to patients and their caregivers.


2014 Recipient — Elizabeth Heinemann, APN, New York University

Nursing students interested in applying for this scholarship will need to submit:

  • resume 
  • transcript (most recent)
  • letter from the dean stating that they are in good academic standing and in need of financial aid. Here is a link to a letter for applicants to provide to a dean to explain the program.  Letter
  • An essay (about 500 words) describing your vision of how to provide excellent care and how you hope to fulfill that dream.

The amount of each nursing scholarship is between $2,000 and $5,000.

We have recently revised our timetable for awards.  Our most recent grant — to be announced shortly — has been selected from applications made by August 31, 2017.
